Hello everyone, the months are passing and it’s amazing to find ourselves in June. Half the year is nearly gone and the days are getting longer.

It’s also a great time to plan your summer and holiday reading. I was very lucky to receive an advanced copy of Eva Glyn’s new novel, The Santorini Writing Retreat, to review. Her books are always a joy, so I was excited to say yes. This is definitely one to put at the top of your Summer TBR pile.

Here’s my review of Eva’s new book which is now available on Amazon.

Thank you to Eva and OMC for the ARC.

The Santorini Writing Retreat – Eva Glyn

(22 May 2025, OMC)

A new Eva Glyn novel is always a treat and The Santorini Writing Retreat is her best yet.

Set on the beautiful Greek island of Santorini the story follows three women who are at different stages of their lives. Jo, the successful author, who is teaching the retreat has a shocking secret which she fears could destroy her mental health and her career. Karmela, who we first met in The Dubrovnik Book Club, is trying to write her novel while repairing her difficult relationship with her mother and, Zina, the owner of the retreat, who is working around the clock to make things perfect for the writers, as her own life falls apart.

In the quiet rural setting of the retreat, they form a strong friendship, helping each other as they cope with both their present problems and the fingers of the past that bind them all.

As the characters are instructed how to create their novels, the tales they tell overlap into their real lives. This is where Eva Glyn’s own writing skills excel, as with a deftness of touch, she draws the stories together, weaving a seamless web of interconnecting events. When the women turn to each other for help, they realise they are stronger together as they work to resolve their own and each other’s woes.

Friendships, relationships between mothers and daughters, romantic upheavals – long-standing and brand new – are all wound into this beautiful, heart-felt tale.

I loved every page of The Santorini Writing Retreat. The characters are warm, believable and human. By the end, I felt as though they were my friends too. For a summer read that will have you moving from laughter, to tears to genuine sadness as the stories of the women unfold, The Santorini Writing Retreat is the one book you must read.

Happy reading.

Much love, Alexandra.
